The North West Pre-hospital Critical Care Charity (Formerly the Cheshire & Shropshire Immediate Care Group), are a group of volunteers who have one common goal and that is to help those in need.
We provide specialist volunteer Doctors, Paramedics and Nurses to support the ambulance and rescue services, bringing advanced medical care to the communities of Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester, Lancashire or further afield if needed.
Our experienced responders compliment our statutory service by bringing advanced analgesia, prehospital anaesthesia, surgical skills and a whole lot of experience!
Our responders are automatically notified at the time of a 999 call to the ambulance service if a serious incident is in their vacinity. Responders can take the decision to discuss their need to attend scene with the regional trauma cell who can gather more information to support the decision to mobilise. We might also get allocated to an incident if there is a crew request for additional support or skills.
Given the serious and often tragic nature of the incidents we attend, those patients and families that we serve are often unaware that they have received care from volunteers, responding in their own time.
Behind the scenes we have a team who are constantly fundraising, applying for grants and keeping the charity running. Without these team members, we would not be able to operate or cover our running costs.
